With the grace of Guru ji I have teamed up with a great Sikh scholar from Leicester, Gurinder Singh Mann to write a book. Its just about to go in for print. Mann completed his MA in the Sri Dasam Granth way back in 2001, and has painstakingly researched the Scripture of Guru Gobind Singh for a further 10 years. We have put a total of twenty years of research into this book, ten years each, for the benefit of the Sikh Panth and scholars alike.

An extract about 1984:

There are also the notions of the Khalsa having sovereignity, and the Guru details the practices of statehood or Raj-niti in the Dasam Granth. This was partly seen in the establishment of the empire built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Even in the period where the Khalistan movement was gaining currency, the leader whose banner it was formed under, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, repeated and drew strength from Dasam Granth. In the view of some Sikhs, there can never be any Sikh State without the resonating sounds of Dasam Granth in the Akal Takht Sahib.

Take the support of Adi Guru Granth sahib, Dasam Granth sahib and the Panth. Hold on completely to these Granths that are the complete compassion of the One Hari.227.

Lakhi Jungle Khalsa

Guru Gobind Singh writes meeting the Khalsa:

In the Lakkhee Jungle, the Khalsa heard of His coming and they longed to see Him. Just like when the water buffalo hear the call of the herdsman, they leave their food and water to rush to him. In their joy and excitement they ran to see their Beloved, each trying to pass the other to get there first. Their pain was gone when they met the Guru, their herdsman, and they gave thanks.

I have the protection of the All - Steel

Many thanks to Eric Schlaflang who filmed this back in 2005. Akali Baba Hari Singh Ji explains the metaphysical relationship of Sarbloh (Steel) , to the Khalsa. The Khalsa worships sacred weapons made from All-Steel. Some are carried on the body and turban. The scripture of Dasam and Sarbloh Granth contains symbolism related to this.

A few years ago, Bhai Sukha Singh Nihang and I were invited to speak by the Gursikhs of Espanola. They are usually known as American Sikhs or 3HO. We hadn't prepared any speeches or research. What you hear was made up on the spot, if it made sense is for you to decide. The Jaap Sahib is the first bani of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji and is full to a point of over flow of sacred Bir ras, or heroic essence. As many of the people do Yoga there, I decided to try and explain the Gurbani via the metaphysical idea of Shakta and Shakti. This theme also occurs in Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. As the years have gone by I have learned a lot more with Gurus grace, and I kind of watch back and cringe a little :). One thing is for sure to understand Sri Dasam Granth Sahib Ji, one has to understand and contemplate (jaap) this gurbani. This bani is also related to Amrit Sanchar. Firstly we repeat it as the second out of the five banis recited, but inside the Jaap sahib are many relations to Amrit, that many scholars miss. First to the Khanda (Bhagwati), then to water, to sweetness, and so on, all are important parts of the Amrit. Jaap Sahib is also related to Shastarvidiya, this was explained to me by Baba Giana Singh Nihang, and also another Mazhabi Nihang Singh who used to live at Akal Phoola Singh Burj. To put it simply Jaap Sahib is related to releasing Shakti, and ultilising that power in life or war.

ਅਥ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਉਸਤਤ ਬਰਨਨੰ ॥अथ चंडी चरित्र उसतत बरननं ॥ Description of the Praise of Chandi Charitra:ਭੁਜੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਯਾਤ ਛੰਦ ॥भुजंग प्रयात छंद ॥

BHUJANG PRAYAAT STANZAਭਰੇ ਜੋਗਨੀ ਪਤ੍ਰ ਚਉਸਠ ਚਾਰੰ ॥भरे जोगनी पत्र चउसठ चारं ॥The Yoginis have filled their beautiful vessels (with blood),ਚਲੀ ਠਾਮ ਠਾਮੰ ਡਕਾਰੰ ਡਕਾਰੰ ॥चली ठाम ठामं डकारं डकारं ॥And are moving at various places here and there belching thereby.

ਭਰੇ ਨੇਹ ਗੇਹੰ ਗਏ ਕੰਕ ਬੰਕੰ ॥भरे नेह गेहं गए कंक बंकं ॥The comely crows and vultures having liking for that place have also departed for their homes,

ਰੁਲੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰੰ ਅਹਾੜ੍ਹੰ ਨਿਸੰਕੰ ॥੧॥੨੫੭॥रुले सूरबीरं अहाड़्हं निसंकं ॥१॥२५७॥

And the warriors have been left to decay in the battlefield undoubtedly.1.257.

ਚਲੇ ਨਾਰਦਊ ਹਾਥਿ ਬੀਨਾ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥चले नारदऊ हाथि बीना सुहाए ॥

Narada is moving with vina in his hand,

ਬਨੇ ਬਾਰਦੀ ਡੰਕ ਡਉਰੂ ਬਜਾਏ ॥बने बारदी डंक डउरू बजाए ॥

And Shiva, the rider of the Bull, playing his tabor, is looking elegant.

ਗਿਰੇ ਬਾਜਿ ਗਾਜੀ ਗਜੀ ਬੀਰ ਖੇਤੰ ॥गिरे बाजि गाजी गजी बीर खेतं ॥

In the battlefield, the thundering heroes have fallen alongwith the elephants and horses;

ਰੁਲੇ ਤਛ ਮੁਛੰ ਨੰ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤੰ ॥੨॥੨੫੮॥रुले तछ मुछं नं भूत प्रेतं ॥२॥२५८॥

And seeing the chopped heroes rolling in dust, the ghosts and goblins are dancing.2.258.

ਨਚੇ ਬੀਰ ਬੈਤਾਲ ਅਧੰ ਕਮਧੰ ॥नचे बीर बैताल अधं कमधं ॥

The blind trunks and brave Batital are dancing and the fighting warriors alongwith the dancers,

ਬਧੇ ਬਧ ਗੋਪਾ ਗੁਲਿਤ੍ਰਾਣ ਬਧੰ ॥बधे बध गोपा गुलित्राण बधं ॥

With the small bells tied around waists have also been killed.

ਭਏ ਸਾਧੁ ਸੰਬੂਹ ਭੀਤੰ ਅਭੀਤੇ ॥भए साधु स्मबूह भीतं अभीते ॥

All the resolute assemblies of saints have become fearless.

ਨਮੋ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਤਾ ਭਲੇ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਜੀਤੇ ॥੩॥੨੫੯॥नमो लोक माता भले सत्रु जीते ॥३॥२५९॥

O the mother of the people ! Thou hast performed a nice task by conquering the enemies, I salute Thee.3.259.

ਪੜ੍ਹੇ ਮੂੜ੍ਹ ਯਾ ਕੋ ਧਨੰ ਧਾਮ ਬਾਢੇ ॥पड़्हे मूड़्ह या को धनं धाम बाढे ॥

If any foolish person recites this (poem), his wealth and property will increase here.

ਸੁਨੈ ਸੂਮ ਸੋਫੀ ਲਰੈ ਜੁਧ ਗਾਢੇ ॥सुनै सूम सोफी लरै जुध गाढे ॥

If anyone, not participating in the war, listens to it, he will be bestowed with the power of fighting. (in battle).

ਜਗੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਪੈ ਜਾਪ ਯਾ ਕੋ ॥जगै रैणि जोगी जपै जाप या को ॥

And that Yogi, who repeats it, keeping awake throughout the night,

ਧਰੈ ਪਰਮ ਜੋਗੰ ਲਹੈ ਸਿਧਤਾ ਕੋ ॥੪॥੨੬੦॥धरै परम जोगं लहै सिधता को ॥४॥२६०॥

He will attain supreme Yoga and miraculous powers.4.260.

ਪੜ੍ਹੈ ਯਾਹਿ ਬਿਦਯਾਰਥੀ ਬਿਦਯਾ ਹੇਤੰ ॥पड़्है याहि बिदयारथी बिदया हेतं ॥

Any student, who reads it for the attainment of knowledge,

ਲਹੈ ਸਰਬ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਮਦ ਚੇਤੰ ॥लहै सरब सासत्रान को मद चेतं ॥

He will become knowledgeable of all the Shastras.

ਜਪੈ ਜੋਗ ਸੰਨਯਾਸ ਬੈਰਾਗ ਕੋਈ ॥जपै जोग संनयास बैराग कोई ॥

Anyone either a Yogi or a Sanyasi or a Vairagi, whosoever reads it.

ਤਿਸੈ ਸਰਬ ਪੁੰਨਯਾਨ ਕੋ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥੨੬੧॥तिसै सरब पुंनयान को पुंनि होई ॥५॥२६१॥

He will be blessed with all the virtues.5.261.

ਦੋਹਰਾ dohara॥DOHRA

ਜੇ ਜੇ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਕੋ ਨਿਤ ਉਠਿ ਧਿਐ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ॥जे जे तुमरे धिआन को नित उठि धिऐ है संत ॥

All those saints, who will ever meditate on Thee;

ਅੰਤ ਲਹੈਂਗੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵਹਿਗੇ ਭਗਵੰਤ ॥੬॥੨੬੨॥अंत लहैंगे मुकति फलु पावहिगे भगवंत ॥६॥२६२॥

They will attain salvation at the end and will realize the Lord.6.262.

ਇਤਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰ ਨਾਟਕੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰੇ ਚੰਡੀ ਚਰਿਤ੍ਰ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਬਰਨਨੰ ਨਾਮ ਅਸਟਮੋ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੰਪੂਰਨਮ ਸਤੁ ਸੁਭਮ ਸਤੁ ॥੮॥इति स्री बचित्र नाटके चंडी चरित्रे चंडी चरित्र उसतति बरननं नाम असटमो धिआइ स्मपूरनम सतु सुभम सतु ॥८॥

Akali Baba Santa Singh Santhia Sarbloh Granth Sahib 2 /1 /2004

Baba Santa Singh Ji learnt his Santhia from the Sikh Brahmgiani Akali Baba Mitt Singh Ji, at Mata Sahib DevaChioni/Gurughar at Nanded. This is internal Taksal of Shiromani Panth Khalsa Akali Buddha Dal Panjva Takht. Baba Santa Singh Ji taught may Singhs before he left his body a few years ago, he was around 107 years old.Sarbloh Granth Sahib is also known as Sarbloh Guru Darbar, Sarbloh Parkash, Manglacharan Puran.

In the vicinity of Anandpur Sahib, is Gurudwara Shahidi Bagh pictured in the images. This Shaheedi Bagh is different to the one opposite the Anandghar fortress next to Keshgarh Sahib.

At this holy place, the Gurudwara is built in memory of the Shahid Singhs. The Singhs gave up their lives following the order of their master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Guru Ji had ordered the Singhs to stop Jabbar Khan from intercepting the marriage procession and taking the newly wedded wife of Pandit Devi Das. For those of you who have seen brave heart, the Moghuls had the same law of primae noctis, e.g sexual rights of any newly married bride on the first night of marriage. The girls father went to the Guru and asked him for his help. The Guru sent the Singhs with Sahibzada Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Akali Baba Deep Singh Ji who guarded the marriage procession. The Moguls attacked and many Singhs gave their heads for righteousness. Jabbar Khan was confronted in battle and slain, as he lay dying he asked for a last request before the Guru, he asked that he may be remembered. The Guru replied you will be remembered as a scoundrel by the Sikhs, and they will strike a memorial stone with their shoes in memory of your evil deeds, at this exact place where you have fallen. Thus Jabbar Khan did not die by being killed by a sword like a true warrior, the final blow that killed him was with a shoe to the head. The girl seeing the inability of the local Hill Princes, and inhabitants to protect their women, went with her husband to live at Anandpur Sahib. There she became a Singhanee and her husband a Singh.
